The Department of Botany at Biswanath College was established in 1970. Since 1978, the department has been offering a Major course in Botany, providing students with the opportunity to dive deep into the world of plant sciences.

Academic Focus and Objectives

The B.Sc. program in Botany at Biswanath College is designed to help students explore the vast field of Botany and gain an in-depth understanding of the plant kingdom. Our curriculum emphasizes:

  • Plant Diversity
Understanding the variety of plant life, its distribution, and ecological significance.

  • Core Biological Sciences
Students study essential subjects such as Cytology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Bio-statistics. These foundational topics help students appreciate the role of these sciences in botanical research.

  • Plant Conservation
The program teaches the most recent scientific guidelines for assessing the threat status of plant species, in line with the standards set by the World Conservation Union. This ensures that students are aware of the latest trends and the critical importance of plant conservation.
