The Department of Philosophy at Biswanath College was established in 1960, at the very inception of the college. Late Lalit Chandra Borah was the founder Head of the Department. Over the years, the department has grown and flourished under the leadership of dedicated faculty members. One of the key milestones in the department’s history was when Late Chandra Kr. Sarmah served as the Head for an extended period and introduced a Major course in the subject, marking a significant expansion of the department’s academic offerings. The department added a third faculty member in the year 2000.
