The Department of Mathematics at Biswanath College was established in 1970 with just one faculty member. Initially, the department offered general courses for undergraduate and pre-university students. Over time, the department expanded, and in 1991, a major course in Mathematics was introduced, with three faculty members joining the department. Since then, the department has grown, consistently producing graduates with excellent results.
The first batch of students enrolled in the major course consisted of 8 students, all of whom graduated with high percentages, setting a strong academic precedent for future students.
