Internal Complaints Committee
In accordance with the provisions relating to prevention, prohibition and redressal of sexual harassment at the workplace and in higher educational institutions, Biswanath College has constituted an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC).
The ICC is responsible for addressing complaints of sexual harassment and promoting a safe, respectful and discrimination-free environment for employees and students of the College.

Policy for Internal Complaints Committee
Biswanath College follows the applicable provisions and guidelines relating to prevention, prohibition and redressal of sexual harassment of women employees and students in higher educational institutions.
The policy provides for mechanisms to prevent sexual harassment, receive complaints, conduct inquiries, provide interim relief where applicable, and take appropriate action in accordance with the prescribed procedure.
Responsibilities of the ICC
- Receive and address complaints relating to sexual harassment.
- Provide assistance to employees and students who wish to make a complaint.
- Protect the identity and privacy of complainants, respondents and witnesses as required.
- Ensure that victims or witnesses are not victimised or discriminated against.
- Organise orientation, awareness and training programmes relating to sexual harassment.
- Promote a safe and respectful environment within the College campus.
- Take appropriate steps for redressal of complaints in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
- Prepare and submit reports as required under the applicable regulations.
Process for Making a Complaint
A person who is aggrieved by an incident of sexual harassment may submit a written complaint to the Internal Complaints Committee in accordance with the prescribed procedure.
The policy provides for confidentiality and a time-bound process for handling complaints and conducting inquiries.
Important Stages
- Submission of a written complaint to the ICC.
- Communication of the complaint to the respondent.
- Submission of reply and relevant documents by the respondent.
- Conduct of inquiry by the ICC.
- Submission of the inquiry report and recommendations to the appropriate authority.
- Appropriate action in accordance with the applicable regulations.
Confidentiality
The identity of the aggrieved person, victim, witness, respondent and other parties involved in a complaint shall be treated confidentially in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations.
Safe and Respectful Campus
Biswanath College is committed to creating a campus free from discrimination, harassment, retaliation and sexual assault and to promoting awareness regarding prevention of sexual harassment.
Regular awareness, sensitisation and training programmes may be organised for members of the College community.
